Millennium Gives Back is an initiative that gives our employees monthly opportunities to get involved and give back to our communities through volunteerism. We offer our employees one day paid leave per year to volunteer in the community. Whether we are donating food or cleaning up local beaches, we’re standing together to make a difference!
Beach Cleanup at Millennium’s Adopted Beach in Cardiff – San Elijo
Millennium Health employees help provide a cleaner, safer beach for the Encinitas community by participating in beach cleanups. Volunteers collect several pounds of trash and recyclables including food wrappers, cigarette butts, pieces of plastic and more, then properly dispose of them. Beach cleanups are more than just beautification. They enable us to have an immediate positive impact on our environment by removing litter and other pollutants before they have a chance to affect the wildlife in our oceans and rivers.
Annual Food Drive
The San Diego Food Bank’s red barrels are placed around our campus to collect nonperishable food items for an annual food drive. In 2014, Millennium collected 3,603 lbs of food for San Diegans in need. People go hungry every day of the year, not just during the holidays when donations peak. Millennium’s annual food drive helps keep the Food Bank stocked all year-around.
Kids Ocean Day
In collaboration with I Love A Clean San Diego, Millennium volunteers helped supervise more than 800 elementary school students during a binational beach cleanup and aerial art formation. The cleanup took place at Border State Field Park in San Ysidro and Tijuana, Mexico, uniting youth from both sides of the border around a common goal to protect our local environment.
Feeding America San Diego Food Distribution
Millennium employees and their families volunteered at Feeding America. Together, the group was able to sort and pack 7,655 lbs. of potatoes, apples, pears and avocados in just two hours! The produce was provided to elementary schools in underserved communities throughout San Diego.
